Spring is arriving.
The snowdrops are up and open, and a few eager daffodils are attempting to unfurl..but it is a cold windy day here. So they will have to be patient a little longer.
Getting the bunnies and chicks prepped for the room to room pastel decor.
Enjoy!
Two sides of my "Fairie light." A dog (bull dog) face is the last side. |
A bridle rosette with a running beagle, on my 1940's cigarette dish. I can't resist anything with dogs, and lots of cigarette dishes (very fashionable in 1940) have a dog(s) on them.
Spring is the time for nests. So in the fall my mom and I always go collecting the past summers old bird nurseries, and then decorate with them.
Tin dog pull toy, with a small skunk from my childhood.
My tin sheep collection.
I love this old photo. I found it at an antiques store for a dollar. What I love so much about it is that it is an 8x11 photo, framed in glass of someone's beloved cats. To make it even better there is a framed picture hanging on their wall in the upper left of these two cats again. These are my kind of people!
Someone's little dog, circa 1950-60, in a great Adirondack chair. So cute, and it's framed.
"Salty" the highly decorated "Mascot of the U.S.S. LST" Found at a rare booksellers booth at the Baltimore Antique Show, 2010
Oh, how I love this little Jack Russell. An old Victorian photo, in its original frame. He is giving his best pose on an elegant elaborate Victorian table.
Old begging dog, floor bowling piece, under new "pastry" bell jar.
Mom's Easter basket rabbit and eggs from last year. These eggs are pretty heavy, so I guess they are hard boiled. (Huh, how long do they last?)
Decorating with what you have when you don't have any "real flowers." These are old Victorian curtain tie-backs. They are so beautiful that I display them all year around. They make their own bouquet.
Love this old photo. A woman giving her kitties their afternoon milk snack. (OK, I am still a vet, and for those of you out there that don't know this..NO MILK FOR CATS!, they eat cat food.)
Just bought at Black Angus Antique Mall, Adamstown, PA last weekend.
Two singing bronze cats on a smiling crescent moon.
My husbands painted tin fishing sign. I think this is a trout? He would know but he is outside riding his tractor, (he says productively, I say "Nothing looks any different?")
Old feed bin. Great animal label.
The beginning of the window display.
The feed bin holds pine cones in the fireplace. Guarded by two owl andirons. I could do a whole blog on my animal andirions..
The spring nests start to take shape. I use little polished rocks (new), the remains of the homes of the baby birds that have hatched at the farm, and some shells from past beach trips. If it is small enough, round enough, and has a little color it goes in a nest. I add a guardian or two usually. One of these has a carved wooden bunny.
I love peeps!
These last few photos are from our annual Easter egg hunt. These were from 2008..I'll dig more up later..
Lilly, my moms dog, from Easter 2008. Sadly she just passed away yesterday at 14.
