Opening Day at the Gatchellville Store
It was our first weekend at the store. Always a sure sign that the winter has been beaten and we have made it through to the other side.
As is customary for us we brought an Easter inspired batch of goodies to share and help brighten the mood.
Here is my favorite clothing find for the day.
A very girlie preppy inspired dress from the 1950's. We all joked about wearing it..I replied that "I would only wear it if some hot guy from the 80's showed up in a DeLorean and offered to take me back to my prom."
Linda and Carroll, proprietors of the Gatchellville Store |
A little tour through the best shopping anywhere in the world...
Enjoy..
The "How-To" section.. the list of books varies by subject..
And new this year,, a whole section on dresses and clothing from the late 1800's to the 1980's. All unbelievably gorgeous!
Here is the booty I brought home..
Enameled shoe buckles from France.. so art deco, and so absolutely beautiful I had to buy one of each color. I am turning them into bracelets. |
Buckles for the dresses I bought for the upcoming trip to Churchill Downs and England. |
"For Ella, From her Ma, Dec 25, 1873" How precious is that?
Hidden in my box the most lovely thick wide pink embroidered ribbon. |
One of my favorite parts of the store are the tags that Linda makes for the treasures..
This little black poodle pincushion reads, " Cutest vintage pincushion, poodle and flowers."
And the piece d'resistance..my hand beaded purse..a definite for the Kentucky Derby..
My derby outfit; a designer dress from Nordstrom, a custom derby hat, bejeweled heels, and a clutch from Gatchelville Pa.
For more information on the Gatchelville Store please visit their Facebook page.
And please tell Linda and Carroll that I said "hello." Who knows I will probably be in the chair beside the stove..or poking through a pile of buttons, photos, or jewelry.
