Morning Moments

There are too many mornings when the world seems to large and encompassing to face.

It is on the quiet days of the fleeting weekend mornings where I lay in bed a little longer than the schedule seeks to permit.

The mornings where the world is small, quiet, and seemingly safely far away. Those precious still moments of my tiny world where nothing else is present except those little fury faces and warm loving purrs of content.

These are the treasured still life of the soul of my heart.

The few minutes I can steal in bed with my kitties, next to my warm husband are more precious to me than any other. It is the essence of the ethereal magic of a home.

Wren naps while Oriole gazes longingly.
I have started to try to appreciate the beginnings as much as I savor and reflect on the endings. Each day is a trove of treasured experiences. I look forward to a day with challenges, twists, and yes, even difficulty. And at the end of each day I can be grateful for living... all of the joy, pain, zeniths and nadirs. I want to live each day as a sum of its parts of this one chance I have.

I seek peace and clarity with those restful first moments of the day. A "Good Morning" wish to each of the furry kids of our home. A kiss to my husband for his long day to be good and safe.

...And the start of every day is a coveted cup of coffee.

Made with love, attention, and beautiful things to cozy up with.

It has helped me to start the most dreaded days with these personal places. The rest of the house can wait for a rainy day of organizing, dusting and de-cluttering, but, my coffee cafe area is always clean, bright, charming and happy.

...and so each day starts surrounded by those I love most, and the beauty of the life we have built.

And should I ever get the chance,, I'll take that magnificent cup of coffee right back up to bed...

Things don't appear so ominous and foreboding if you can break them into little parts. Take a moment to remark on the path that got you to where you are, and breath. Having respites to seek solace, a home to make your own, and a life full of responsibilities and sharing are the pinnacles of a life well earned.

Easter on the Farm, 2016

Here's to hoping that your Easter basket is full of the love, joy, and rebirth of the spirit of this day..

This is our home. Built on 1811. This is a typical Pennsylvania German farmhouse of Southern York County, Pennsylvania. It is the back drop to every inspiring moment and the blank canvas to every staging and decorating whim... it is my sanctuary, my salvation and my mecca.. I hope that it inspires you to stop and revel in the immense beauty that surrounds us always.

The candy container collection... Easter theme.

Before there were plastic eggs to hide candy there were these papier gems.

Early advertisements were so beautiful people held on to them long after the stores shut down.

My kind of Easter goodies..

Old stone houses have deep windowsills negating the need for shelves, cabinets, and cupboards..

Need a quick color pick me up,,,parrot tulips!

Transitioning from Winter to Spring...

Making Easter baskets..

My favorite shopping places for my Easter baskets; Terrain, for inspiration and amazing basket fodder, and Longwood Gardens.

My best helper, Wren.

Who wants to hide plastic eggs? Why not use small Mason jars? Pretty, durable, and reusable!

All that candy and creating,,, well, it can be exhausting...
